Antonelli San Marco, Montefalco

Antonelli is a historic farm dating back to the 13th century, where it belonged to the bishops of Spoleto. Only in 1881 was the farm bought by Francesco Antonelli and turned into a vineyard. Only a few years later documents mention fields with about 5.000 plants. Furthermore the living conditions of the workers were improved. The philosophy was that with an easier life they would work better and with greater dedication. This philosophy still runs in the company, now run by the 4th generation.
Out of the farms 170 hectares 40 are planted with wine. This gives an annual production of 300.000 bottles using only own grapes to be able to control the quality.

The Antonelli is continuously developing, in 1979 they started to bottle themselves, recently the cellars under the old manor house have been reconstructed into 2 floors in order to work with the vinification without the use of pumps in order to treat the grapes more gentle. And another 10 hectares are ready to be planted.
Antonelli is one of the main producers of Sagrantino di Montefalco since situated in the heart of the area.
